for health supply chain financing to be treated as a strategic investment to ensure the sustainable availability of essential medicines and medical commodities in Sierra Leone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The call was made during the ongoing 2027 Financial Year Budget Hearing organized by the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development at the Miatta Conference Centre in Freetown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Presenting NMSA\u2019s budget and financing outlook, the Managing Director, Madam Jatu Josephine Abdulai, highlighted key financing priorities, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" height=\"16\" width=\"16\" alt=\"\ud83d\udd39\" src=\"https:\/\/static.xx.fbcdn.net\/images\/emoji.php\/v9\/tf3\/1\/16\/1f539.png\"> Operationalizing the 0.05% levy on government contracts to support the procurement of Free Healthcare commodities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" height=\"16\" width=\"16\" alt=\"\ud83d\udd39\" src=\"https:\/\/static.xx.fbcdn.net\/images\/emoji.php\/v9\/tf3\/1\/16\/1f539.png\"> Strengthening the Cost Recovery Scheme as a sustainable mechanism for continuous commodity replenishment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" height=\"16\" width=\"16\" alt=\"\ud83d\udd39\" src=\"https:\/\/static.xx.fbcdn.net\/images\/emoji.php\/v9\/tf3\/1\/16\/1f539.png\"> Leveraging donor matching funds to maximize Government investments and unlock additional development-partner resources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" height=\"16\" width=\"16\" alt=\"\ud83d\udd39\" capacity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" height=\"16\" width=\"16\" alt=\"\ud83d\udd39\" src=\"https:\/\/static.xx.fbcdn.net\/images\/emoji.php\/v9\/tf3\/1\/16\/1f539.png\"> Preparing for the 2027 financing outlook, particularly in light of anticipated changes in donor support for medicines and health commodities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:26px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" allocation, but as an investment in a system that can generate sustainable results.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Madam Abdulai stressed that sustainable financing, stronger Government investment, strategic partnerships, and innovative financing mechanisms will be critical to building a resilient and reliable health commodity supply chain for Sierra Leone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The NMSA budget proposal received positive consideration from stakeholders during the hearing, with a recommendation for its approval through the relevant budgetary processes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full
