The exercise reaffirms the Agency&#8217;s commitment to ensuring the continuous availability of life-saving medicines and medical supplies across Sierra Leone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Handing over the consignment, the Director of Human Resources at NMSA, Mr. Robert Dixon, stated that the distribution forms part of the Agency&#8217;s statutory mandate to procure, store, and distribute medicines and medical supplies to districts and health facilities in line with the national quarterly distribution plan. He noted that the exercise demonstrates NMSA&#8217;s continued commitment to strengthening healthcare service delivery by ensuring that health facilities receive the commodities they need to provide quality care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mr. Dixon explained that the seven truckloads would be allocated as follows: four trucks to the District Medical Store for distribution to Peripheral Health Units (PHUs), two trucks to Tonkolili Government Hospital, and one truck to Masanga Hospital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He urged health workers and facility managers to ensure that the medicines and medical supplies reach their intended beneficiaries, particularly pregnant women, lactating mothers, children under five years of age, persons with disabilities, and survivors of Ebola and COVID-19. Foyoh Tholly, who commended the National Medical Supplies Agency for its continued efforts to ensure the timely distribution of essential medicines and medical supplies across the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hon. Tholly reminded health officials that substantial public resources are invested in procuring these life-saving commodities and urged them to manage and utilize them responsibly. He cautioned that anyone found diverting, misappropriating, or misusing government medicines would face the full force of the law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Representing civil society, Mr. Ibrahim Pelus Kamara, District Coordinator of Health Alert, pledged to monitor the distribution process to ensure that the medicines reach health facilities and their intended beneficiaries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Receiving the consignment on behalf of Tonkolili Government Hospital, the Hospital Superintendent, Dr. Mohamed Allieu Shour, expressed appreciation to the Government of Sierra Leone, through the National Medical Supplies Agency, for the timely delivery of the medicines and medical supplies.
