{"id":3305,"date":"2026-07-21T16:41:20","date_gmt":"2026-07-21T16:41:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nmsa.gov.sl\/?p=3305"},"modified":"2026-07-21T16:42:34","modified_gmt":"2026-07-21T16:42:34","slug":"nmsa-internal-audit-manager-promoted-to-director-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nmsa.gov.sl\/index.php\/2026\/07\/21\/nmsa-internal-audit-manager-promoted-to-director-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2\/","title":{"rendered":"NMSA Undertakes Nationwide Distribution of Essential Health Commodities"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><em><strong><em><u>NMSA Public Relations<\/u><\/em><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The National Medical Supplies Agency (NMSA) has commenced the nationwide distribution of essential health commodities for the first and second quarters of 2026, reaffirming its commitment to ensuring the continuous availability of life-saving medicines and medical supplies across Sierra Leone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The nationwide exercise, which began a week ago with deliveries to Ola During Children\u2019s Hospital and Princess Christian Maternity Hospital in Freetown, has already reached over seven districts and ten health facilities, with distributions continuing to the remaining districts in accordance with the national distribution schedule.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The distribution includes a comprehensive package of essential health commodities comprising Free Healthcare (FHC) medicines and medical supplies, Essential Medicines, Nutrition Commodities, Cost Recovery Medicines, and Ebola Preparedness and Response Supplies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Free Healthcare commodities, provided through the support of the Government of Sierra Leone and its development partners, are supplied to beneficiaries at no cost and must be managed in strict accordance with national Free Healthcare guidelines to ensure equitable access, transparency, and accountability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:26px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1020\" height=\"768\" src=\"https:\/\/nmsa.gov.sl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/WhatsApp-Image-2026-07-04-at-16.03.46.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3307\" style=\"width:701px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nmsa.gov.sl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/WhatsApp-Image-2026-07-04-at-16.03.46.jpeg 1020w, https:\/\/nmsa.gov.sl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/WhatsApp-Image-2026-07-04-at-16.03.46-300x226.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/nmsa.gov.sl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/WhatsApp-Image-2026-07-04-at-16.03.46-768x578.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/nmsa.gov.sl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/WhatsApp-Image-2026-07-04-at-16.03.46-360x270.jpeg 360w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1020px) 100vw, 1020px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:32px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Cost Recovery medicines are distributed alongside other essential commodities through the routine national supply chain. These medicines help maintain the continuous availability of quality medicines at public health facilities while supporting the long-term sustainability of medicine supply services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The exercise also includes Ebola Preparedness and Response Supplies, consisting of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) commodities. These supplies are strategically pre-positioned to strengthen the country\u2019s emergency preparedness and response capacity and should be securely stored and deployed only during authorized public health emergencies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nutrition commodities form another key component of the distribution. These supplies support maternal, newborn, child, and community nutrition programmes and are to be managed and utilized in accordance with established national guidelines to improve nutritional outcomes among vulnerable populations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The ongoing nationwide distribution reflects NMSA\u2019s continued commitment to strengthening Sierra Leone\u2019s health supply chain by ensuring that safe, quality, and essential health commodities reach health facilities in a timely and efficient manner.
