As Legislated through an Act of Parliament, the NMSA Act 2017, repeals and replaces the Pharmaceutical Unit Act of 2012 as a public service agency. NMSA is exclusively mandated to procure ,warehouse and distribute drugs and medical supplies for and on behalf of all public health institutions throughout Sierra Leone.
The main objective was to repeal and replace the National Pharmaceutical Procurement Unit(NPPU) Act of 2012 and to establish a new public agency responsible for medical supplies in a transparent and cost-effective manner for and on behalf of all public institutions through out Sierra Leone.
